Desert Skies 4

Game Journalism Day 4

the little things

What did you do?

  • Tell a story - a story with pictures especially about when you found (or made) these little things:
A glass helmet and a cape on a holding area in the cave where the old man is, it looks like Mysterio's suit from the Spiderman Comics.
My first bobblehead which I found in the first town, it was pretty cool and I immediately built a shelf to put my new decoration on.

Killed the Seeker for the first time and took it's head and put it on my ship immediately. I was pretty proud.

Built my first noisemaker to use against the Seeker, it proved useful in stressful situations when I was being chased by the Seeker or distracting it so I can kill it.

My two seeker heads after killing them I put both of them on a lattice wall and laughed at their deaths.

Totem like our school, found in a forest full of dead trees in a tent.

A moving tumbleweed that crossed me during my adventures in the dead forest.

What did you learn?

  • I believe I'm advancing since I'm killing Seekers left and right and conserving supplies as I venture throughout the wasteland. I hope hard mode will not be as hard as it says it is.

One tip and trick is that when your at the old man's hill/area where you do a specific set of tasks, you can go into a hole and escape/make the Seeker unable to get you, he'll walk away far then you run back and do whatever task you had to do.

What is your plan for tomorrow?

  • What's next in my adventure is that I'm going to get the new version and try to play as pro as I can and make sure to take care of my character and move throughout the deserts as safely as I can by conserving fuel and supplies.
  • add an image of your airship

Desert Skies Part 3

What did you do today?
Killed an innocent old man on the mountain, he made me do stupid tasks.

Added new decorations such as the pirate ship and it looks cool.
Found a new area with a lot of trees and a dead seeker, alive seeker tried to kill me but he got stuck in the trees like a egghead.

What did you learn?

While exploring, there is new areas for you to explore and one including a man living on a rocky mountain that cannot be reached by the seeker, by doing sets of tasks he will reward you with gifts and a decoration for your airship.

Bobbleheads are a new addition to the game as there are several you can collect and put on your ship and their heads bobble as the airship moves.

Stamina Bars are now a thing and when the Seeker shows itself, the stamina bar will appear limiting how long you can run so that it's not so easy to get away from the Seeker.

What will you do next day?

What I will do is to try to progress through the game and make the biggest airship ever to venture through the skies and try to kill the Seeker.

Desert Skies Part 2

What did you do today?
What I did today was play the game and explore new areas, I reached the end but did not get a screenshot. I tried to kill the Seeker but failed and just didn't do it in the end, I expanded my ship and added new workbench stuff such as the grill to make cooked food and the anvil/blacksmith area to make the Revolver parts.

This is a photo of the seeker in the first town from my first playthrough, I didn't pick up or craft the stone pickaxe so I messed up.
Picture of the Legion base that has been abandoned, this was my second playthrough and I reached the end shortly after this, I didn't kill the Seeker though, pretty disappointing.

My base, air balloon that I upgraded with wood and nails. The extra stuff I made later. I didn't upgrade my area until near the end of the game cause I didn't know how to or didn't have sufficient resources.

    What did you learn?
    • tips and tricks for your readers
A quick way to grab all of the items is press the E button I believe and it grabs everything for you.
You can get wood easily with the stone pickaxe and mining the trees.
Once you reach the Oasis with the old man, you can mine his trees down for extra wood for your own needs.

answer the following with an image
You can get the stone axe from the supply store on a crafting bench in the first town. You can get all supplies easily by rummaging around the area.

Cooked fish near the Oasis with the old man, you can eat them straight off the hook and it replenishes food by a hefty amount. It's stealing but the man didn't say anything so free food.

You can get this live fish and eat it, although cooked fish adds more hunger. If you are feeling a bit hungry and don't mind bones then eat the old man's food.

As you can see in my inventory is a red mushroom, cactus fruit and in my number inventory is can of food. You get the red mushroom from the caves or in a box near the camp with the cave, to get the cooked can you need to find a grill by crafting it or finding it in a town then fueling it up and cooking the can.

      What will you do tomorrow?
Once I get the new version, I will explore the game to the best of my abilities and try to kill the Seekers while taking screenshots. I also will try to save supplies and make my hot air balloon ship a mansion.

      Desert Skies

What TYPE of game is this?
Desert Skies seems like a action-adventure survival game that revolves around you flying around in a balloon and gathering supplies to get out of the desert, it is a very fun and scary game as there is a 'Seeker' trying to hunt you down as you play. Overall the game is a fun experience.

What did you do yesterday to win the game?
What I did to win the game was play strategically and sneak around when I entered new areas to avoid alerting the Seeker. The game is very stealth-like and action based. You can also hide in buildings to avoid it from finding you as you play.

Explain what you see and how to play the game.
When you first start, the story states you crash and all of your friends die from the crash, you are the only survivor and you have to take what in front of you to survive and load up the hot air balloon with fuel to escape. The controls are simple as you use the WASD keys to move and to interact with items is E or whatever key you set it as. You must find your way out of the area with the hot air balloon in which you load with wood or coal to move, sneaking is essential [CTRL key] and you move throughout the game without capturing the eyes of the 'Seeker'.

      SIX- screenshots

      • 3 of items to collect - with captions

This is a picture of a hammer, which is needed to upgrade your hot air balloon and expand it.

Picture of nails, which is needed to piece the wood together and expand your ship or make pickaxes.

Picture of a chest with goodies such as rope and wood, rope is needed for your ship as well to climb or other crafting items.
      • 3 of the scenery - with captions
This is a picture of a rock that crosses over with another rock but under is a crashed wagon with dead bodies all over it.

This is a picture of the empty desert which spans across miles and miles, it seems endless.
The picture of the hot air balloon and the scenery behind it, in which you travel with it and is your best friend along the ride.

      What is your plan?
My current plan is to keep playing and reach the end as I take more pictures of the things needed, I also will be cautious and be sure to sneak anytime I can.
